Liver Specialists of Texas provides a wide range of specialized care to patients with digestive and liver disorders. Dr. Joseph S. Galati has been practicing in the Texas Medical Center since 1994.
Our main office, located in Scurlock Tower, a 4566 square foot facility, with a spacious waiting room, 7 examinations rooms, a patient/family education classroom, and physician consultation offices. Our warm receptive staff is available for all of your needs. At this location, all of the outpatient consultations take place. Detailed medical histories are obtained along with a thorough physical examination. Prior medical records are reviewed by the physicians, as well as previously performed x-rays and liver biopsies if previously performed. When necessary, these x-rays and biopsies are reviewed directly with the patient. A full report to your referring physician is dictated immediately once the visit is complete. For foreign visitors, a wide range of interpreter services is available.
Abdominal ultrasounds are performed at this location, a common procedure in patients with liver and digestive disorders.Liver Fibroscan is also performed at our office. This is a specialized scan that measures the amount of fat in the liver, as well as non-invasively determines the presence or absence of scarring (fibrosis) in the liver. This is especially important in managing patients with fatty liver disease (Metabolic Dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease - aka MASLD).
Our team of providers is available to assist our patients and clients with a variety of nutrition needs, including (but not limited to) weight management, fatty liver disease, GI disorders, diabetes, heart disease, or any other metabolic conditions or general nutrition concerns. We offer a physician supervised weight loss program.
Patients that require hospitalization for more complicated problems are admitted exclusively to The Methodist Hospital, located directly across Fannin Street, and attached to ScurlockTower.The Methodist Hospital is one of the finest hospitals in the Texas Medical Center, and home of the world-renowned DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center. Patients that require outpatient endoscopic procedures have them performed at Texas International Endoscopy Center. Here, day surgeries are performed including liver biopsies, upper endoscopies, and colonoscopies. The caring nursing staff of TIEC makes your brief visit enjoyable, in a caring and respectful manner.
